After the death of their father, Senator James Fair they want to built a Hotel in his honor. 1902 beginning of the construction of the San Francisco Hotel ... by the sisters Theresa Graham Fair-Oelrichs and Virginia Graham Fair-Vanderbilt 1906 the sisters sell the not finished Hotel days before the earthquake 1906 San Francisco earthquake damages but does not destroy the Hotel 1907 opening of the first Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. 1908 Theresa Fair-Oelrichs buys the Hotel back 1945 the Hotel was acquired by Benjamin Swig 1960 Fairmont develops a small chain of prestigeous US Luxury Hotels besides the Fairmont San Francisco there are The Plaza - New York The Fairmont Copley Plaza - Boston The Fairmont - Chicago, Dallas and San Jose 2001 the chain was purchased by the much larger Canadian Hotel Chain, Canadian Pacific Hotels owning many historic landmark Hotels from Canada. Canadian Pacific Hotels were a division of Canadian Pacific Railways. The new Chain adopts the Fairmont Brand name, the Fairmont logo gets a facelift. 2005 the investor Carl Icah starts a bidding war over the Hotel chain but he loses it 2006 january 30 Fairmont was acquired by Colony Capital and Kingdom Hotels for US$ 3.24 billion As a result of the Purchase Fairmont Hotels are merged with Raffles Hotels and Swissotels belonging to Kingdom Hotels. The new Fairmont Raffles Hotels International maintain 3 seperat historic brands Fairmont, Raffles and Swissotel Some properties like the Hamburg Hotel Vierjahreszeiten or the Montreux Palace switch from Raffles to Fairmont. 2010 opening of the renovated Savoy London (in 2004 the Hotel was sold by Quinley Private / Maybourne Hotel Group)


	Origin of Fairmont Name & Logos & Internet Domains Name: Senator James Graham Fair (1831-1894) name chosen by his daughters that build the Fairmont San Francisco in his honor.
