Mini History & Timeline :
Mini was invented in 1959 as a reaction to the 1956 Suez crisis where the UK was facing fuel shortage.
The car was manufactured by the British Motor Corporation.
In 1960 the British Motor Corporation became part of British Motor Hodlings
which in 1968 fusioned with Leyland Motors to become British Leyland.
In 1980 British Leyland was broken up. The Mini brand
remained in the Rover car division which was part of British Leyland.
In 1988 Rover Group was acquired by British Aerospace and in 1994 by BMW.
Rover was a difficult chapter in the BMW history.
The company was broken up by BMW in 2000, they sold Rover and Range Rover
but they kept Mini.
